Ash Wednesday, Lent… some words that I didn’t really grow up understanding, nor practicing. As I get older I begin to understand what this all means. For Lent I will be giving up breads & pastas. This is going to be very difficult, but for me – this Lent season is all about focusing on my sin and humanity, and realizing how different my life would be had Jesus Christ not died on the cross all of those thousands of years ago. Today I enjoy a personal relationship with Jesus because of his sacrifice. Lent is forty days (or in my case 39 – whoops) of recognizing wrongs and turning our hearts and minds back toward God. So, every time that I fee like I am dying to have some of these carbs – I will recognize how I am feeling, pray about it, and give it up to God!
Also, if you’re looking for a little devotional to read during the Lent season, check out the online devotional: http://shereadstruth.com/. I will likely be referencing them in the next several days. 👍
Here’s to a challenging, yet enlightening thirty-nine days.
